Hypnotherapy We are now delivering this online in the comfort of your own home!

Although there are many fears and misunderstandings about the use of hypnosis, the myths and mystery that surround it are totally undeserved. I hope I can reassure you and explain that what happens in hypnosis is very normal, certainly non-magical and can have positive results.

Hypnotherapy has been around for over 100 years and in this time has seen many changes. It has more recently become a credible way to overcome the stresses and strains life throws at us. It is an area of therapy where a naturally occurring phenomenon can be harnessed to help our well being.

Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and contrary to what many people believe, hypnosis is not always a trance state or a sleep state, even though a person in hypnosis may appear to be sleeping. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind and an important part of everyday life. Whenever our mind wanders, daydreams or is focused on something, such as driving a familiar route, reading a book or watching a film we are in a state of hypnosis.

When in a hypnotic state you will feel more mentally and physically relaxed. Hypnosis is a very pleasant experience where you are still fully in control of your actions. You can hear exactly what is going on around you and you know that you can easily stand up, talk, or move whenever you want to.

Hypnotherapy can help with:

  • Phobias/Panic attacks/Anxiety disorders

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

  • Smoking cessation/Weight loss/Introduction to eating disorders

  • Dealing with unwanted habits and behaviours

  • Pain control and management

  • Loss and bereavement

  • Insomnia

  • Self-esteem/confidence

  • Anger management

  • Improve performance at work or in sport

Hypnobirthing We are now delivering this online in the comfort of your own home!

If you are pregnant, you may be wondering how you are going to cope with childbirth. If you hope to give birth naturally and remain as pain and drug free as possible, it would be useful to learn effective techniques and strategies to help you do this.

Pain during labour is a fear response that can be avoided. Hypnotherapy helps you learn the right techniques before having your baby.

Using breathing and relaxation methods, the idea is that you can help your body relax and go through the natural process of giving birth without tensing up and feeling scared.

I offer 1:1 sessions to teach breathing and relaxation techniques relevant to birthing.

I also run small 'Mum and Bump' sessions locally. We meet once a week for relaxation and a chance to socialise with people in the same situation. It's a great way to unwind and meet new friends whilst enjoying light refreshments! For further information about these classes, please contact me. Because spaces are limited, booking is essential.

Hypnotherapy in schools and other workplace settings  We are now delivering this online.

I am qualified to take clinical hypnotherapy into schools and other workplace settings to help children and adults. In doing so, I have enjoyed working extensively both locally and further afield.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of psychotherapy. It's growing in popularity, particularly for treating post-traumatic stress disorder.

EMDR uses a patient's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements in order to dampen the power of memories of past traumatic events.

EMDR may also be used to treat:

  • Panic attacks

  • Anxiety
