Introduction to Meditation course - 6 week course costs £50 for 6 sessions

Here at Horbury Integrative Therapies we help people learn to deal with the stress that comes with everyday life. We cannot perform magic or miracles and we cannot eliminate the stressors in your life. What we can do is teach you how to look at life differently and equip you with valuable tools to put in your toolbox which can help you to become the best version of yourself. By supporting you to make changes, you can transform your life, find happiness and be more at peace with yourself and the world around you.

 

Meditation, Mindfulness & Sophrology,

Meditation for beginners is a one hour session which runs for 6 weeks, teaching the fundamentals of meditation. We embrace the disciplines of Sophrology and include correct posture, breathing techniques, relaxation strategies, mindfulness and visualisation as well as helping you to set up a meditation corner and supporting your daily practice if you so wish. Those completing a beginners course may progress to an intermediate course to reinforce and consolidate their new skills, if they so wish. 

We believe that meditation is good for health and well being and has been proven to help control anxiety, lower blood pressure and aid sleep. It can also help with focus and concentration.

Our meditation is NOT linked to any religious belief or cultural practice.

Well-being

How do you cope with day to day life?  Well-being describes your physical and mental state. Feel healthier and happier. This is an 8 week course which encompasses self-care, building resilience, Sophrology (mindfulness, meditation, relaxation visualisation) and more! With a small group of like-minded people you can take time out for yourself to socialise and learn new skills and techniques in relaxation and effective breathing. The course includes audio recordings and e-mailed information to reinforce the themes covered. As with all of our courses, our aim is to promote well-being and health for all and as such we do not subscribe to any religious belief or cultural practice.

Relaxation

Our Monday evening relaxation group is aimed at people who want to manage the effects of stress. Join us each week to spend time on pure relaxation. We believe that social interaction is good for the soul and the first part of our meetings are geared towards this; should you want to chat or just listen, the choice is always yours. After this, you will be invited to enjoy stillness and silence as we practise effective breathing techniques, muscle relaxation and enjoy guided imagery.  Research shows that regular practice of relaxation techniques such as these can help with a variety of physical and mental problems such as poor sleep, everyday stress and stress related conditions, such as high blood pressure and pain. Our relaxation group is an ongoing class which is booked in blocks of 8 sessions. The course includes audio recordings and e-mailed information to reinforce the themes covered.

Sleep Easy

This session consists of half an hour of pure relaxation to help prepare you for a good night's sleep. Research shows that if you are in a relaxed state of body and mind before you go to sleep you will experience deeper restorative sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead. Join us to enjoy a calming visualisation at 9pm on Wednesday evenings. 

Teenage stress buster Not available at present due to Covid 19

Teenagers meet together each week to practise correct breathing and relaxation strategies. We also cover revision tips and techniques to help ease the anxiety of exams. Join our like minded small group to enjoy a relaxed and informal hour to chill and smash that stress!

  • Audio recordings are included in 1:1 therapy and on most of our courses
